This is the first official addon (DLC) for Borderlands and surprisingly already in the pipeline before Borderlands was released (why not just add to the original game ?).
The game was released around a month after the original game.
Essentially you start off, and another location has been added to your fast travel point (Jakobs Cove). The area itself is very dark and dismal, and essentially it’s the same as the orignal game, but with zombies…..
There is a running storyline of trying to find Dr. Ned, then kill him, and plough down hordes and hordes of zombies on the way.
Now if you’ve read my review of Borderlands, you will know that I love the game and gave it 5/5, this however I am only scoring as a 3. Why you may ask ?…well let me tell you, it was kinda dull.
First of all, if I wanted to kill zombie, I would get Left 4 Dead, or Resident Evil, I’m not bothered about seeing it in the Borderlands universe.
Secondly, no car ?!?…..the 10 hours or so it took me to beat, was all on foot, and let me tell you the area what pretty big, I probably spent 40% of my time running.
Thirdly, they just kept respawning. As I mentioned above, I ran from 1 area to another, and even if I was in the new area for only a couple of minutes, then came back, these dull zombies had all respawned again……which I wouldn’t have minded if they’d have been fun to kill, but they were that slow, you could almost guarantee a head shot kill for every one. This however wasn’t a total waste, as being the achievement junkie I am, I’ve got the Braaaaaaaaaaaaains! achievement, which essentially means I had to collect the brains from around 435 zombies. The last mission was 250 brains, which you had to hand in, and I believe there was a 10, 25,50,100 mission, and then the 250 is where you get the achievement.
Looking back, if I’d have picked up the quest at the beginning, I wouldn’t have had to run round killing them all at the end :S
The downside with the game also was, if anybody was like me, and had been ploughing through playthrough 2, you were too high level for this, and I found it a little too easy, the zombie became just an annoyance instead of a challenge.
All in all, it was kinda average.
Approx Time taken to beat – 10hours
Difficulty setting – Normal
