I know I took my time, but I’ve finally got around to playing and completing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Now I would have jumped on this game earlier, however I’ve been so busy with other games, an ever increasing pile of shame, and the last month has been especially been taken up with the 360Voice Gamerscore challenge.
Now I have to be honest, I’m not a massive online gamer, I don’t mind leader boards, but teaming up and playing with somebody online is not something I normally do……this is probably another reason I’m late to the party with this game.
So…I’ve played it, I’ve completed it…what did I think…..you know what, I really enjoyed it !.
If I could use just one word to describe this game…it would be ‘intense’, out of the 15 missions there are only 2 that are stealthy. The other 13 are guns, explosions, more guns, buildings blowing up, vehicles blowing up…more shooting..and more stuff blowing up…and it’s just very ‘intense’. Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a bad thing, it gets the heart pumping and the adrenaline rushing, but I found I couldn’t do more than a couple of missions at a time before I had to take a break.
Visually, this is a beautiful game, there were many ‘wow moment’, some as simple as the textures on a characters face, others an entire building collapsing, it looked gorgeous.
The sound again was immense, I played this game wearing my Turtle Beach DPX21 headphones and was blown away by the sound design.
The game itself….. I have 2 minor criticisms, first, the story….it was forgettable, to be honest, I completed the game less than 48 hours ago and can’t really remember what happened, and secondly, it was short, I think including breaks, I beat the game in around 6 hours.
Another thing to note…this game was easy, I mean very easy, on normal difficulty I think I only died once, and that’s rare for me. Infact the game was so easy, at one point during the game I paused it to check the difficulty settings to ensure they we’re set to easy.
As the game was a rental and I’d had it over a month, I decided to send it back without trying the spec ops.
Now I know that with all Call of Duty games, the single player is a small fraction of the game, and the multiplayer is where the action is. I had 1 game, got a 0.43 kill/death ratio, and sent the game back to the rental company, as spending more time online will only drop my K/D ratio 🙂
All in all, a stunning looking game, however with me not really being interested in the multiplayer, I don’t think I’d have got my moneys worth if I’d have bought it instead of renting it.
Approx Time taken to beat – 6 hours
Difficulty setting – Normal
Score – [Rating:5/5]
