Next up on the press conference list was Bethesda. Now Bethesda had a strong showing at least years E3 and their inaugural BE3 conference. With the likes of DOOM, Dishonored 2 and the big boy that was Fallout 4. So how did this years shape up?
Well why not kick off with the surprise reveal of Quake Champions, a PC only game. And that was it, that’s all that was announced as far as this title was concerned. It’s being pegged as a competitive multiplayer arena shooter with more information to be announced at QuakeCon later this year.
Pete Hines came on stage to talk about The Elder Scrolls: Legends, the card game that was announced at last years press conference. This was to announce that single player mode had been added to the game with a reveal trailer that you can watch below. Also it was announced that it would be coming to PC, Mac, iPad / iPhone and Android devices later in the year.
Next up was a video package presented by Todd Howard talking about how awesome their last year had been with Fallout 4. During this video package we were introduced to more add ons for Fallout 4, including Contraptions, allowing you to make, you guessed it; contraptions! Contraptions such as elevators, armour racks to display all your weapons and armour and much more. The add on will coming out next week. The next add on was Vault-Tec, which is basically Fallout Shelter in Fallout 4…coming July this year. Then footage was shown for a new add on called Wasteland Vacation which showed a theme park based around Nuka Cola.
Even more stuff came up with the announcement that Fallout Shelter would be receiving a massive update that added quests and new locations to explore, a bunch of new enemies and a new combat system that allows you to target specific enemies. To add to all of that it was announced that Fallout Shelter would be coming to the PC! All of this will be rolling out July this year.
Then the biggie that was The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim Special Edition. They show a comparison between the original release and the special edition of the game and it looks pretty good i’m not going to lie. As someone who didn’t put any time into Skyrim this might give me the perfect excuse to play it. The game will feature mods on consoles and will be released October 28th this year.
Next up was the reveal or re-reveal of Prey. Not Prey 2, just Prey. Here’s the blurb from Bethesda:
“Arkane Studios, the team behind the critically acclaimed Dishonored series, is bringing their unique vision to Prey, a first-person sci-fi action game that reimagines the franchise from the ground up… with an added psychological twist.
You are Morgan Yu, the subject of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. You awaken aboard the Talos 1 in the year 2032 and must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over. You’ll have to rely on the tools you find on the station – along with your wits, weapons and mind-bending abilities – to combat the growing threat and, hopefully, survive.”
Prey will be released in 2017.
Then another video package! This time for DOOM. This was to announce that there would be free updates to SnapMap, and multiplayer in the shape of new modes. Then finally to announce the first DLC pack; Unto the Evil, which introduces new multiplayer levels, weapons, monster and other random stuff. Oh yeah, and a DOOM demo…Yay?…This will allow people to play the first level of the game for free, giving people a nice taste of what DOOM has to offer.
Then screaming lady came into her own and basically lost her shit when it came to The Elder Scrolls online (seriously, it sounded like she was having an intense orgasm after every section of this part of the presentation) It was announced that there would be Dark Brotherhood DLC for consoles released later this week. Also, One Tamriel was announced. From what I can gather it basically means you can play with anyone at any level and everything scales to suit your level. One Tamriel will be released later this year.
Then the surprise reveal of Bethesda VR. No, no don’t worry, it’s not yet another VR platform, rather than support for current VR platforms, well, HTC Vive specifically. First off it was announced that DOOM VR was a thing, however it’s not the game, rather that you can look around environments of the game in VR!…The main news was that Fallout 4 would be coming to VR next year, allowing you to explore the wasteland in yo face.
Finally was the rather lengthy Dishonoured 2 presentation. I’m not going to go too into the presentation, but long story short, it showed people stabbing fools and doing sneaky things. Here’s a gameplay trailer below to show a brief glimpse of what is to come. The game does look really good, with a very visually striking art-style and gameplay, Dishonored 2 will be released November 11th this year.
And that’s ya lot! That was Sundays press conferences. Roll on later on today when Xbox, Ubisoft and PlayStation have their press conferences!!!
