It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Yes it’s E3 2016, or should I say it’s almost E3, however this doesn’t stop the information coming in early. Today Square Enix had a Pre-E3 Showcase, demonstrating brand new gameplay for the eagerly awaited Deus Ex: Mankind Divided but also showing off their wider Deus Ex Universe. Personally I’m super excited for what’s to come from this franchise as 2011’s Human Revolution was one of my favourite games of the last generation, so having more of this universe in my life is welcome.
First off was the announcement of Deus Ex GO, a game designed for mobile and tablets. This marks another entry into the popular GO series with Hitman GO and Lara Croft GO, two very well done puzzle games that’s absolutely perfect for on the go touch screen gameplay. While the trailer is brief the key information here is that the game is due this summer. Check out the trailer below.
Next up was a surprising addition to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided in the shape of Breach. This is the description given by Square Enix:
“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach is an innovative game mode, included for free with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This new take on the game offers, for the very first time, an arcade approach on the gameplay of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, providing players with a connected puzzle shooter experience. As a Ripper, a hacker in the year 2029, your objective is to obtain and sell highly classified corporate data by infiltrating some of the world’s most secure servers, using the funds you acquire to upgrade both your skills and arsenal. As you play, the rewards you earn, including XP, credits, and booster packs, will allow you to face the increasing difficulty of the game. Challenge yourself, your friends, and people from around the world in the ultimate Deus Ex arcade twist. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach is a live game mode, introducing new challenges and features by rolling out updates on a regular basis”
Sounds like this could be an interesting inclusion and considering it’s a free addition to the game it’s pretty impressive. I can’t help but look at this mode and not instantly think of Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions. Take a look below and see what you think
Finally is the gameplay from the Mankind Divided story. The gameplay doesn’t give too much away, showing some moments in Adam Jensen’s apartment and city-hubs, all whilst showing split screen how diverse the choices you make can be and the various play styles you can adopt whilst playing the game. Personally I think it looks amazing and I genuinely can’t wait to have this game in my hands. Roll on August 23rd!
If i’m honest, I was disappointed that there’s no Human Revolution remaster. I know some people don’t feel fantastic about remasters, but that game feels like it deserves one. Guess i’ll just have to play the PC version of the Directors Cut and marvel at the visuals until I can get my grubby mitts on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided…
