It feels like only weeks ago I played through the Leliana’s Song DLC….oh wait it was ! Bioware are really starting to rush out the DLC for this game, and it’s really starting to show. Dragon Age : Golems of Amgarrak feels a tad “thrown together”
Now the description on Biowares site states the below
Delve deep underground to save a missing dwarven expedition in search of ancient secrets for creating monstrous constructs. Only you can uncover the gruesome fate that befell them.
Put your Warden back in action and adventure through new environments, meet new characters and defeat never before seen creatures. With an engrossing new storyline and challenging puzzles this is one add-on you don’t want to miss!
Import your character from Origins or Awakening or create a new, high-level hero!
Face an all-new terrifying creature
Earn powerful rewards that transfer into your Awakening and Origins campaign
An advanced challenge for even the most experienced adventurers.
As you can probably guess, your character plus 3 others get to run through the dungeons, and find the missing Dwarven expedition. As with the majority of the Dragon Age DLC, you will run into a number of people and these will become your companions. You acquire throughout the game, a Warrior, a Rouge and a Golem (which has the ability to revive ?)
As the game runs through, you see a number of ghostly figures (kinda like in the fade from the main game), and you find out soon enough that these are people in another realm.
As you run through the expedition site, you get to fire a number of switches, these switches will change the dimension you are in, Blue, Green, and Purple. Dependant on which “dimension” you are in, you’ll be able to access certain door, and treasures. You will find yourself running backwards and forwards through the cave attempting to pick up everything.
Throughout the game, there seems to be something following you, a kind of alien thingy, you find towards the end, that this is called the Harvester..the end of DLC boss.
The game itself was a breeze, there was 1 puzzle that took a couple of attempts of which I’ll cover in greater detail below.
The majority of the enemies in this were the Darkspawn, with a few skeletons thrown in. The end of game boss “The Harvester” was actually a breeze, he tends to go after your character, so just keep running around the stone pillars, and let your crew take him out. There will be a few waves of skeletons, but were easy enough to take out as your running.
Now for the puzzle that stumped me a little, to get to the Harvester, you need to go through a red door (you need to be in the red dimension), however there isn’t a switch that turns you red. There is however a room with 4 switches on pillars (W – White, Y – Yellow, C – Cyan and M – Magenta) , and 1 on the floor. You have to press these switches in order to then press the one on the floor. The combination on the Xbox is M,Y,W,C…then press one switch on the floor. I later found out that this was in the journal :s
The game seems glitchy too, weapon sets would seem to switch for no reason, Hold position seemed to mean…teleport to my location, and the DLC just felt thrown together.
All in all, it was ok at best, better than the Leliana’s Song DLC, but not by much.
Approx Time taken to beat – 2hours
Difficulty setting – Normal
Score – [Rating:3/5]
