I had a love/hate relationship with this game for day one, so much so, that I bought it on release date, and completed it only last week.
If you are like me, and grew up with Ghostbusters 1 & 2 being massive blockbusting childhood memories, then you’ll love this game. Not only do you be able to become a rookie Ghostbuster, and hang out with your heroes (voiced by the original peeps), but you also get to virtually roam around the Ghostbuster HQ….and to use the pole 🙂
The game itself seems to run on the Gears of War “over the shoulder” engine, which works ok, however the running in confined spaces doesn’t work to well, and found myself bouncing off a couple of walls.
Totally immersive gameplay, at times I felt I was a Ghostbuster.
The graphics were good, they’d got the original cast / ghosts down to a tee.
The voice acting was brilliant (as mentioned before, voiced by the original cast)
The story….once completed I felt like I’d just watched Ghostbusters 3
I’m not sure what it’s like on the 360, but on the PS3, the load times were around 40-50 seconds, which is ok if you aren’t getting your arse handed to you, and keep having to load the last checkpoint
I spent most of the game either down on my arse, or reviving fellow ghostbusters
What the hell wasn’t this a 4 player co-op ? It had everything in place, to do so…and it felt like it was missing, I would have loved to take on the role of one of the ghostbusters, with 3 of my buddies controlling the other 3….this would have made this a 5 star game for me.
In conclusion, if you can forgive the game for some of the weaker points, this is worth gritting your teeth and getting through, as the feeling when you’ve finally done is so worth it.
