The story continues where the God of War 2 ends. You don’t have to have played the previous 2 games as it’s very good at recapping, however if you have, memories will come flooding back of some of the epic battles you’ve had.
Now I want to keep this spoiler free, as the story is something you need to experience for yourself, however it’s epic !
The game uses very similar mechanics to the previous 2 games, you level up your weapons by collecting red orbs, from killing various mobs.
If you loved or hated the mobs from the previous games, they’re all in here, but this time in glorious HD, making it all more satisfying when you pull off a brutal finishing move and “destroy” one of the mobs. One of the most noticeable improvements over the previous two is the lighting effects, these are truly gorgeous.
I would be more than happy to sit and watch somebody else play this game, as I feel you miss so much as the “controller”. For example, the boss battles, when you get them to the point where you get the glowing O, you then concentrate on various quicktime events to kill them, you are so focused on the next action, you miss the stunning visuals that are going on.
I have to say, there is a certain quick time even with Aphrodite which I found quite amusing, I would have loved to be on the research team researching how body parts naturally move…..(you’ll understand if you’ve played it)
Once again, I played through this on easy, but only due to the fact that I wanted to get through playthrough 1 and pick up the “bonuses” ready for playthrough 2.
All in all a truly epic game, and hope there is a 4th God of War game.
