I have to be honest, when I heard that there was more DLC for Mass Effect 2 I got a little giddy. Mass Effect, and Mass Effect 2 are probably in my top 10 all time games.
As with all the other DLC, you walk onto the bridge, to be informed by Kelly that you have new mail at your private terminal. It’s a note from the illusive man telling you to go and see Liara T’Soni on Illium as they are hot on the heels of the Shadow Broker.
Now for a full background of this story, I suggest you have already completed Mass Effect 2, and also read the comic book Mass Effect: Redemption, as the events of the comic book are covered in the story arc of this DLC.
You find that Liara has been tracking the Shadow Broker since the destruction of the Normandy, and is very close.
On Illium you spend most of your time, running, shooting, and even a car chase is one of the sky taxi’s.
After around an hour and a half of playing, there was a massive boss battle, I beat it, got the achievement, and was just about to put down the controller when it continued !
Off I went to the 2nd location, the Shadow Brokers base. Now for anybody who had played this, will know exactly what I mean when I say “WOW !”. The visuals of the Shadow Brokers base are amazing, and the combat is just as fantastic. If you’ve played the first game, and remember the Citadel bit towards the end, imagine that in a lightning storm ! Just amazing.
When you do finally get inside the base, you fine Liara buddy, and the fight…the Shadow Broker.
All I can say, is if you’ve been put off by the previous “only okish” DLC for Mass Effect 2, don’t tar this with the same brush, it’s amazing !
ps, this also unlocks a small part of the galaxy, and gives you a handful of planets to mine.
Approx Time taken to beat – 3hours
Difficulty setting – Normal
Score – [Rating:5/5]
