2 words to describe this game, f**king awesome !
I’ve seen a lot of reviews for Uncharted 2, and how a lot of reviews suggested it was one of the best games of 2009, so thought I’d better play the first one first.
Now I’m normally a FPS type of guy, and not too keen of 3rd Person shooters. I was never too keen on Tomb Raider type games, but thought I’d still give it a go.
Right from the off, I was totally immersed, it’s like playing through a modern day Indiana Jones, or Jewel in the Nile, or some other cheesy 80’s treasure hunt film.
One of the first things I noticed was in the settings, it allowed me to ramp my audio up to 7.1 LPCM, which was a refreshing change, and was shocked to find this in a game released in 2007.
The next thing I notices were the visuals, absolutely stunning, reminded me of the first time I played Far Cry on a machine good enough to run it maxed out, just a gorgeous view, the water effect were amazing, the plant life looks and felt realistic, this combine with the audio made me feel like I was with Nate Drake searching for the treasure.
One thing that really did stand out on the visuals, was when Nate got wet, he actually looked soaked…very nice touch.
The story telling…again, amazing, this game had no load screens, nothing, it just moved seamlessly from scene to scene. The voice acting was brilliant, and the characters were totally believable. The game gave enough variety to ensure the player didn’t get bored doing the same thing over and over again.
Other thoughts, the save points were very generous, and never really had to go back too far if I fell off a rock face, or got my ar$e handed to me.
Final though, can’t believe I’ve left it over 2 years to play this game, and really looking forward to Uncharted 2 now.
